I don't normally make New Year resolutions, but this year I feel I should.
2010 has been a rough year for both myself and my beloved. She lost her Nan, my aunt was told she has to have her leg amputated due to her diabetes being out of control (she is wheelchair bound after a stroke and is very frail, so there is a chance she won't make it through the operation).
I've had massive flare ups of pain, my medication has been increased and I'm on morphine patches - I've laso been told by the doctor I can no longer drive due to the increasing pain I have been feeling.
We have been trying for a baby, but after two years without result we went to a fertility specialist and I have been told it is almost impossible for me to father a child......still not come to terms with that.
My wife has had real problems with her health too - as well as having to contend with a major issue regarding our entitlement to benefits (welfare to my US friends). At least we won that war, we appealed their decision all the way and she won, so that was a real weight of our shoulders.
Oh - and I turned 40 too!
All of this meant I did not write a word from March onwards. So, my resolution is to finish my book and get it ready to submit to agents &/or publishers.
I think it's about time I got back to doing it, I have had some great inspiration and advice from people on here. It would be a real regret if I went throught the rest of my life and not finish - I will always wonder "what if" whereas I want to say "I did it!"

Hope 2011 brings you much better, Stu. Sounds as though it has been a very tough past year, which never makes it easier to write. But perseverance will get you there. We're rooting for you, too!

As with others, I'm wishing you a much better and healthier 2011. Writing does help take your mind off things, but it's hard to "get into the zone" when you're in pain. The best of luck with your book!

Thanks everyone - have managed to read though what I've written so far and am back on the writing wagon today. Got up early, had my breakfast & coffee and am just about to throw myself into 12th Century Bristol!!!
