September 2010: What Are You Reading?
I'm reading City of Light, by Lauren Belfer.
I want to read that one. I'm in the final stretches of Mavreen by Claire Lorrimer (another long lost OOP). Lol, but the "ads" I found at the back - An order form for the entire Angelique series @ $1.75 each. I'll try and get it scanned later this week and up on the Angelique thread.
Reading and enjoying so far My Last Duchess by Daisy Goodwin - the late 19thC marriage market, a wealthy USA heiress and impoverished titled English asristocrat.
Very interesting to know. "Buccaneers" is a favourite and I do like this theme.
Currently reading The Brontes by Juliet Barker, but as it's quite a tome, I'm interpersing it with Poldark.

I have read her novel "The Queen's Grace" and enjoyed it very much. I cant wait to get started on this one.
Welcome, Gabriella! I enjoyed her novel The White Rose very much. Who was The Queen's Grace about?

Thank you for the welcome!
"The Queen's Grace" was about Catherine Parr. I had read so much about Henry VIII's other wives, it was great to learn more about Catherine. Even if it was only fiction.
Was "The White Rose" about Elizabeth Woodville?

Yes, it is. It's a more sympathetic portrait of her than is usually found nowadays in historical fiction, so I liked it. I shall have to look for The Queen's Grace--thanks!

Poldark holds a sentimental spot in my heart. On my first date with my (to be) husband, I offhandedly remarked that I was having trouble locating the first book in the series. On our second date, he presented me with a copy. We celebrate our 30th anniversary next month!
