Sad find: a likely murder on Hadrian's Wall

All the more poignant because it was a child.

I read about this in the paper, there have been a few similar finds, in fact another one today on the outskirts of London, although they're not sure if these deaths were sacrifices or natural causes. It is very sad and tragic, but a thought went through my mind that here was the perfect inspiration for a new series of murder mysteries - set in Roman England!

Reminds me of the story that came out a couple of months ago about the remains of 97 infantsfound at a Roman villa which they thought might have been a brothel. I wrote about it on my blog. Sad story repeated all through history, not just by the Romans. We recently had a child death in NYC, a four-year-old who weighed only 15 pounds and had marks on her ankles that indicated she had been tied to her bed. Sad, sad, sad.
