I've finished reading "The Drowning Tree" by Carol Goodman (339pgs, 2004). Another good book by Carol.

Last night I finished The Confessions of Catherine d'Medici... oh my, what a journey I had with Catherine!! I spent the last 2 nights reading until my eyes couldn't stay open.

I loved CW's character of Catherine! I have read much about this malignant Queen but after reading this novel I will never see her again in such a dark light. I saw her as a mother, Queen, lover and foe to many but with the latter I never thought I could excuse her extremist behavior until now. Mostly, I loved that C.W. let you, as the reader, draw your own conclusions of Catherine de Medici as a Queen Regent and as a person. Never did I feel that he imposed his own personal opinion of such a controversial historical character in centuries!

Thank you CW for another wonderful & exquisite novel. :D :p

I'm reading The People's Queen by Vanora Bennet. An unfortunate cover choice I have to say, but the novel itself is excellent as far as I have got - only at page 70. It is 100 times better at the moment than The King's Mistress, also about Alice Perrers.

That wouldn't be difficult!

I'm still on Ackroyd's The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein. It's predictably creepy, and reminding me more that a little of one of his earlier novels - Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem. It's an interesting take on the original, with a certain touch of the Jeckyll and Hydes. ;)

Last night I finished Dawn on the Distant Shore Number 2 in Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness Series. I think I am going to start number 3 tonight.

Finished up Imperial Highness by Evelyn Anthony (about Catherine the Great - the beginning was a little slow but I enjoyed the second half quite a bit). Holland's Great Maria is next.

Currently... Mansfield Park.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!
