Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
Location: California Bay Area

I like starting fresh every month. The alternative would end up building a roster so that new nominations were more difficult to get in sideways. Besides, people who nominate often go ahead and read the book they want. And there's the buddy reads section, if anybody wants to join them.

Into the Wilderness is an excellent read.

I don't know any of the 3 runners up, so it would be a lucky dip for me. I tell a lie - I've seen the film 'Cold Mountain'.

I don't think it's a bad idea, I've read Cold Mountain but don't know the others.

Edited to say I was an avid viewer of North and South all those years ago, and I did read a very abridged version of the book in a women's magazine.
