Sows, yes! Thank you, Annis - I knew they had a name.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info

I've just finished Daughters of the Grail - whihc was excellent, I ended up staying way past my bedtime to finish the last few chapters.

Anyway, I was struck by a vague sense of familiarity in the last part, after Magda had grown up, and I wondered if it had been published as an extract or short-story somewhere else?
I'm pretty certain I haven't read it before, as only the last part was "familiar", i didn't get any "flashes" from the first three quarters or so.
(I've read a couple of other novels about the Cathars, so it could be just a resonance of that, of course!)

Daughters of the Grail was first published under the title "Children of Destiny", so it's possible you have read it before! Not sure when it was published in your part of the world, but it was re-issued in the UK with the "Daughters..." title about 2 or 3 years ago.

Hi Ejays - What Madeleine said. It's been around for a while in a less edited format and the original UK Title was indeed Children of Destiny. That's all I can think of - other than the Montsegur thing being standard Cathar history.
Glad you enjoyed the novel and sorry about your bedtime!

Thanks for the answer EC & Madeleine! On sober (non-sleep-deprived :o ) reflection, I've concluded that it's the Montsegur resonances with the other books I'd read.

Is The Wild Hunt a good book to start with?
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

Good question and difficult to say.
The Wild Hunt is my first novel. I started out at the lighter end of historical fiction with imaginary protagonists and an adventure/love story. It's not a full on romance as such, but there are strong elements of it.
I now write about real people, so my story lines follow their doings. I still retain that element of adventure and romance, but the novels probably have a bit more nuance.

The Wild Hunt is a good example of my adventure/romance period, or The Falcons of Montabard. On the biographical fiction front, I'd suggest The Greatest Knight and then move on to the rest of the Marshal novels if you enjoy it.
