Watched "Before the Rains Came" the other night, and was inpressed. It's set in southern India just before WWII, and captures the complexity of the colonial experience. It's visually gorgeous and well-actedI thought Rahul Boseas was brilliant as TK, the Indian foreman, trying to deal with both the English world and that of his tribal clan, but not totally comfortable in either.

Thanks for the recommendation, Annis, I've just put it in my Netflix rental queue.

Tonight my husband and I are planning to watch "Memoirs of a Geisha," which I decided to rent since I read the book for the first time this month.

Saw "Broken Embraces", the new Almodovar film with Penelope Cruz today. I liked it but I liked his "Volver" much better. This was a bit over-the-top soap operatic for my taste.

Oooh, but then I saw a new trailer for "The Wolfman" with Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt: I cannot wait for this one! The Victorian ambiance looks incredible, dark and brooding, and yes, rated R!! The Wolfman was my favorite horror figure growing up; he thrilled and terrified me at the same time. I hope the movie lives up to its trailer promise; if so, be prepared to be deliciously scared.

Happy New Year to all! I hope 2010 brings you much love, health and success.

A Perfect Getaway starring one of my all time favorite female actress, Mila Yockovich, Steve Zahn and another well know actor from action movies whos name I cannot remember(sorry).

It's a suspense~thriller and very good I might add. Honeymooners go to HI to hike and murders are happening, newly wed couples being the target. Their is safty in numbers so when they meet up with another couple hiking they stick together. Maybe they should not have though.

The movie is not really long so it's easy to get into and the story flows. There are funny/quirky lines in it to add a chuckle or two.

I just finished watching Life is Beautiful. I want to show it to my classes after we finish reading Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl to give them another perspective of the Holocaust. I hadn't seen it for a while and I wanted to make sure it was OK to use in class. It's my very favorite film because it encompasses nearly all the aspects of the human spirit. Of course I cried even though I knew what was going to happen.

"A Clear and Present Danger", my favourite of two Harrison Ford "Jack Ryan" movies, but Alec Baldwin's "The Hunt For Red October" is my favourite of all the Ryan movies. Hated Ben Affleck's one.

I could not watch that movie, for many reasons. It will be an interesting discussion no doubt with your class, but its premise, I just couldn't do. (refresh my memory, what grade do you teach?)

Ive seen Up twice, and probably will buy it when its on DVD. Loved it!
