This must be the season for book sales! (I had a pretty nice haul Friday and Sunday too. Have no idea where I'm going to put all of the new books, but if I complain any time soon of not having anything to read, someone needs to shoot me.)

*Snort* I bet! I bet I'd have to have another room or two built just to house them! LOL!

I bought the first book in Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy: The Wreath. Mine is a copy of the newer translation. Anybody ever read this?

I read The Wreath in the new translation last year. It was excellent. The original translation from the 1920s (?) never grabbed me -- it's full of archaisms that create a faux-medieval tone -- and the new one is a big improvement.

My mistake was to buy the entire trilogy in a single volume. It's large and bulky... heavy to hold upright when reading in bed!

I have a set of this with the Kuniko Craft covers, which are exquisite. I still need to read The Master of Hestviken series.

A Splendid Defiance and Garland of Straw by Stella Riley - and boy was I dang lucky to find them at the prices I did even with the postage from the UK. Just look at the prices for her books in the US
