It has to be "The Day of the Jackal", I'm guessing! Still one of Ken Follett's best thrillers, imo. Oops- senior moment there-make that Frederick Forsyth :)

Yep, that's the one. I've always loved the movie, which is brilliant, but I've never read the book, till now.
