Watchmen, longest lamest movie I've ever seen. A waste of three hours, I could have been reading.

I keep catching bits of this on DVD (SO is obsessed...) - sends me to sleep every time. :D

Saw Harry Potter this afternoon. OKish but not great.

I saw Harry Potter this afternoon also and agree. My husband thought there was way too much teenage love stuff. Of course the book was a lot better!

Netflix alert...Started watching a favorite of mine "Cracker" Robbie Coltrane, is an outstanding actor and really makes this mystery/crime series go/work.....He describes himself as "I drink too much...I smoke too much....I gamble too much...I am too much....at times so cerebral and brilliant and then he goes and does something so wacked you sit there scratching your head....But so compelling and like able film series...Shot in Manchester UK...

Watched "Zodiac" last night, found it a bit boring although well-acted; knowing the ending didn't really help either. Found dialogue hard to hear, and the notes at the end of the film were so small they were impossible to read!

I usually don't watch old black and white films but last night I couldn't sleep and on the AMC channel The Firefly was on, cannot remember who stared in it but it was great. the heroine was a spy for King Ferdinad and this Spanish arisocrat was a spy for Napoleon, it's a great romantic film and with the whole twist of Napoleonic War.

Saw The Ugly Truth with Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl this afternoon. Screamingly funny - especially the corporate dinner scene.

History Channel's movie about the Apollo 8 landing "Moonshot". It's funny that 2 out of the 3 astronauts were played by foreigners.

I find it interesting that after 40 years there's been no big screen movie about the first moon landing but when something goes wrong we get a big screen movie, "Apollo 13".

I well remember the whole Apollo 13 incident. I was in 8th grade and our teacher brought in a tv so we could watch ever minute of their return. Loved the movie. There was a documentary of Apollow called Shadow of the Moon that was quite excellent.

Here's another doc from 1989

Last night on TCM, watched Souls for Sale about the early days in Hollywood. A silent from 1923, it had some excellent shots of early Hollywood, and of the back lots of a studio, plus some of the hottest stars of the time had cameos in it. The movie tries very hard to push back on the view that Hollywood was somehow perverse. Very interesting for those who enjoy that time period.

The latest Indiana Jones. It would have been a letdown had I been expecting anything.
