I was coming to post that - very cool indeed.

I was remembering that day. I was sitting with my parents watching it, being absolutely amazed. Then a few months or maybe a year later, on the 5th or so landing, they called me in to watch and I told them I saw it before. They were rather aghast at that.

Yeah, they said in the news here that we would be able to see this yesterday evening/night, but although the sky was clear of clouds here we never saw anything !

Yes they said the same thing about the UK, and guess what, it was thick cloud here too! It always is when there's a meteor shower, grrr.

Today :

14th of August 1777, date of birth of Hans Christian Ørsted : a Danish physicist and chemist who is most widely known for observing that electric currents can induce magnetic fields, an important aspect of electromagnetism. He shaped post-Kantian philosophy and advances in science throughout the late 19th century.

Come to Arizona, where the skies are always clear (well, usually). We try to go out to see the shower every year, but have to travel a bit to get away from the city lights.

You must go to the Big Island and watch the stars from here. Unbelievable what you can see in the sky with no light pollution.
