Divia, I would recommend it. I think they can each stand alone but you'll get a fuller picture if you read them as a series.
I voted for The Time of Singing (love that title!!) but am planning to read both that and Devil's Brood in October so it doesn't really matter to me which one wins.

Which book should be October 2008 Book of the Month?

Looks like I was the only one who voted for A Rose for the Crown, unfornunately that's the only book that I can order from the library and get it on time. Pennman's I really want to read, but want to read the previous ones in the series first. Gortiner's and Gregory's books are still on order at the library so that is no good. Ho hum, the waiting game!
