I'm still on The Terror by Dan Simmons and almost half way through. Hoping to finish over the next four day holiday though.

I'm currently reading 3 BF books and occasionally 2 books I own, so some of those will be finished this month (Jan). I don't like saying what I'm reading till I've finished them.

I have just started "The King's Rose" by Alisa M Libby. It is about Catherine Howard. I have an ARC, but it is intended for publication in March.

My 2009 reading year is starting off with It by Stephen King (I really, really need to just sit down and finish this one!) and Bleeding Dusk by Colleen Gleason. Coincidentally the first book in her Gardella Vampire Chronicles was the first book that I finished in 2007, so it is almost a new year tradition to start with one of her books.

Ship of Rome by John Stack for Amazon Vine.
Naval battles among Romans and Carthaginians and aimed at the Cornwell/Scarrow/Iggulden market. Rather Hollywood so far.

Sounds like something I'd read. :)

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.
