Amazon and Scientology

Post by michellemoran » Thu November 13th, 2008, 3:55 am

Pretty interesting blog postabout Amazon removing negative reviews of Scientology books, particularly Dianetics. Since I know many forum members are well up on the list of Amazon reviewers, I thought this might be of interest.

Incidentally, has anyone ever read one of L. Ron Hubbard's novels? They're hilariously bad!

hmmm. I've heard of Amazon deleting negative posts before (which I think is total BS if they are valid negative posts) but for a "religion?" I never heard of that...interesting...

Anything is possible, but my first guess would be a massive attack on negative reviews by "someone" hitting the report abuse button. It's happened before, the DebMac faffe being the most famous. Enough people click on those buttons and a review and/or comment will just get pulled by the software and not personally reviewed for comment by a live person.

Interest in HF: I love history, but it's boring in school. Historical fiction brings it alive for me.

Who knew Scientology was so mafia-esque?

Good point. And personal visit by Tom Cruise probably just sealed the deal!
