Congrats on the new grandbaby, MLE! Our family is expecting a new member in the spring. My nephews seem determined to keep up with each other so the younger one is having his third child in May to give my father six great-grandkids. Thankfully, my daughter seems disinclined to follow in her cousins' footsteps. I'm willing to delay grandparenthood for a few years!

Nefret, good luck with your seasonal job. Sometimes those morph into permanent jobs. In any case, having it on your resume helps fill those gaps.

Yesterday went a little more smoothly. Now I have some days off for reading... and hopefully to get over my little cold.

Congratulations, Nefret - I am so glad to hear it! Gosh, it's lovely to see this thread getting lively. Next we need grandbaby stories. Best wishes to you and yours, MLE.

The story of my change is here if anyone is bored out of their minds. It was all so fast, and even unexpected.

I don't have any grandbaby stories. I did however, get my holiday tea purchase. Tried some new things while reading.

Today, I got the first paycheck from my seasonal job. It's not much (only for two days), but I still earned it. :D

I've had a really tough time of it lately (on several fronts) and I hit a low yesterday evening. A friend of mine called me in the middle of it and was round to my home like a shot, picking up another one on the way.

A few hugs and emotional conversations later, I felt a million times better and had the best night's sleep I'd had in months.

That's what friends are for :) ))

Held our annual open house holiday party last night--a great success! We spent several days preparing, but the house looked lovely and there was plenty of good food and drink. I actually got a chance to have several conversations with neighbors and friends. I slept in this morning and am now hiding out in my office avoiding the disaster that is the first floor. I'll marshal hubby and daughter later to do a major cleaning. For now I'll savor the afterglow of a wonderful time with fun people.
