Artist reimagines Disney princesses in period costumes

Post by Rowan » Thu July 11th, 2013, 2:33 pm

Artist Claire Hummel has reimagined the Disney princesses in their appropriate period costuming. Oh, and one villainess is in the mix too. :)

I have to admit not seeing the point of this exercise. With the character designs themselves still looking literally inhuman and the color schemes still cartoon candy bright, all I see here is very slight changes. Particularly with leaving their bodies erotically distended, the detail alterations (to me at least) end up meaning nothing. I don't see anything accomplished here ...

Yes, I did read the copy and that this is "just for fun" - but what was the fun exactly? I'm sincerely missing it.

Nice to see that someone knows Pocahontas' actual name, though!

Just for you, Diane. A poetical comment on Disney princesses, in that delightful accent.

Rowan, no - *I* should be sorry, I didn't mean to rain on the parade. I just didn't see a particular transformation, so I am honestly confused what was supposed to be accomplished that's all.

MLE, I've seen the redesign and been saddened by it. Nice commentator, it's good to hear her voice on the subject. She has a great cadence, she reads like a slam poet almost.

I like the new designs. Its just fun, although still not that much different.

I like the Pocahontas one a lot and I really really really wish they had a full on shot of Jasmine. I wanted to see the top detail more.

That was interesting. A little disappointed that Aurora wasn't included. I really liked what she did with Maleficent though.

Yes I thought they looked a bit distorted too, in that Disney way.

I liked the one for Jasmine.

We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!
