A new five star showed up on Amazon today. A reviewer with only that one review. So we've got that, Harriet and one other (who I know reviews on a professional review site and always has reviews up on Ammy on publication date) giving it five stars. How cool is that?
Thats the book I always recommend. What amazed me is realizing how much of the book I really read via Sharon Kay Penman's trilogies. It is quite a wonderful read.
I'm finding her very descriptive, sometimes it reminds me of literary nonfiction.

It is not to often that I put the knockers on a book but I do on this one. I simply disliked it and I suppose I expected better from Weir especially as I loved 'Innnocent Traitor'.

I put 'Captive Queen' on my donate to the library shelf whereas with books I love I keep them to re-read whenever there is a book drought on.

I found this at the library recently. The first few chapters.

It's been a while since I read it, but I remember liking the Eleanor biography. (It made me want to read the Penman trilogy.)
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

I just finished this book and thought it excellent - fast-moving, full of intrigue, and interesting. One of those it is impossible to put down! Acacia Oak

Does Weir have any more fiction in the pipeline? Although I am getting sick of the British monarchy.

I checked her website. There's a forthcoming novel about Elizabeth 1 and her favorite Robert Dudley in 2014, tentatively titled The Queen and Lord Robert.

So, we got a sequel to Innocent Traitor this year, and a sequel to The Lady Elizabeth is in the pipeline. Should we be fearing that some manner of sequel to The Captive Queen will be next? ;)
