It happened when she was a teenager in New Zealand. The story was told in the film "Heavenly Creatures" with Kate Winslet playing Perry whose real name is Juliet Hulme.

The other day I bought The Reindeer Hunters by Joan Wolf trusting fantasticfiction order for the series but now I've realized they are wrong :confused: so I've bought Daughter of the Red Deer (I bet they are loosely related like her Dark Ages series where there was a time frame but you could read in any order without a big problem but still...)
