Nefret, I think that's the best one overall.
It was one of my favourite books, and I saw the movie in the theatre.

This afternoon... Sense and Sensibility (with two professors of Hogwarts.)
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

I think that's my favourite Austen adaptation - it's perfect in every way. Even better than the BBC's Pride and Prejudice which, good as it was, could have been cut by at least one episode.

The Help. A pity the director felt it necessary to ladle on the emotivity with a trowel. Also unconvincing in places: I can hardly imagine the mother of the main character dismissing her old maid in those circumstances.

S.A. is possibly the last English-speaking country in the world where maids are still an institution (uniforms and all). When I walk to work in the morning at 6.30 a.m. I meet them coming up as I go down down the hill, middle-aged or even elderly. One of them has to leave home at 5.05 a.m. to catch two black taxis to work. There is certainly subject matter for a movie there.
And making us wait three years for movies again?

Just found... The Hollow Crown- Richard II (Ohhh... James Purefoy) *fans self*
They don't have that on my Netflix. Bummer!
The 1994 version. I haven't seen any others.
Oh you should totally watch the 1933 version with Katherine Hepburn. That is the version I grew up on and I loved it! It was something my grandmother and I would watch each and every Christmas. Now I do that with the 1994 version because I don't have the '33 on DVD.

It is my favorite adaptation too!

Who can forget Greg Wise scooping up Kate Winslet in the rain? Sigh. I know he turned out to be a rotter, but it was a great scene.

It's not on Netflix. I cheated, and watched it on Youtube. :o

I'll have to find that '33 film someday.

Also watched... Jane Eyre (from the 40's)

That same actor is in Downton Abbey. One of the reasons I watch that show.

I have the '33 Little Women on VHS.

That version of S&S is the all-time best book to big screen adaptation, in my opinion. The 2008 miniseries of it is quite good as well.

Watched The Soloist. Very moving, well-made film.

That was one of my favourite miniseries.

I watched the Wuthering Heights (2009) miniseries this afternoon.
