Spinrad talks about writing Druid King in this interview:

Interesting interview - thanks for the link, Annis. I don't think we have a thread for novels involving druids, so I'm going to start one!
I think the notion that Anne had a stepmother has been disproved by recent historians. It was still current when Lofts and Jean Plaidy were writing, though.
I just read that in another book too. Was it Margaret George's Henry VIII book? I think so. I would be interested to know for sure.

I don't remember if the stepmother story was in Margaret George's novel. It was debunked a number of years ago, and I don't know of any reputable historian who accepts it now.

Good to know. Too bad Loft's describes Anne's and Mary's mother as a whore.

I just read Weir's book on Mary Boleyn and from what she wrote it seems that Elizabeth Boleyn may have had a some what bad reputation.

Currently reading Becoming Marie Antoinette. About a third of the way through. Thoroughly enjoying it.

If I remember correctly, Margaret Campbell Barnes mentions a stepmother in Brief Gaudy Hour too.
