Does anyone know who The King's Mistress by Julia Watson (put out in the 1970's) is about?

If it's the same author (romance) she appears to have several pseudonyms -
Jane De Vere, Julia Fitzgerald, Julia Hamilton, Jo Ann Vest, Joanna Wayne - not that that's much help! As Joanna Wayne (assumimg it's the right one, she seems to have moved on to modern romances), she does have a website, so if you're desperate you could try contacting her.
http://www.joannawayne.com

Ariadne has a vast collection of royalty-related fiction - she might know.

Just popped in here and saw your query, BB. It's about a fictional mistress of one of the Valois kings of France, 2nd in a trilogy. The author, real name Julia Hamilton, died in the early '90s. I can't find my copy (it's probably buried) but this is what one of my reference books has.

Thanks, Annis and Ariadne! I found out inadvertently last night that she was Julia Hamilton, but I didn't realize she had so many other pseudonyms!

Is this the same trilogy that includes Watson's Mistress to the Valois and The Wolf and the Unicorn or is it another one entirely? I've read the first one - it wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be about but it was OK.

Yup, that's the one. The heroine is named Gentian. I was able to find my copy of book 1.
