I just thought of one, it's not about a specific artist/artwork (in fact IIRC they are all imaginary) and it's a timesweep running from the years 1333-2060, but I did enjoy Girl Reading by Katie Ward. Each story is based on a painting, photograph, sculpture etc of a woman reading, and tells the stories behind them.
