WWII bomber pilot who wrote a western series about the Indian Wars
i am currently wintering in Benson, AZ and decided I wanted to re-read a series I read about 25 years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember the author or the book titles. As far as I can remember, the author had been a WWII bomber pilot who didn't start writing until he was much older. He may have been in his 8o's. The books were set in the AZ, CO area during the Indian Wars. Ive checked the Internet, libraries and local bookstores. The Singing Wind bookstore couldn't help. Of course, I may be erroneous in my recollection, but would love if someone is familiar with the author. As I recall, they were great books. I also seem to recall that there was a photo of him in his WWII gear on the back cover.

That's a tough one. I don't know the author, but read a book (way back in the '60s) set in that place and during that time called Blood Brothers. It featured the Apache Chief Cochise.
I DO remember that it came from the first section of my library, so the author would have had a name that started with A-C. The memory is a funny thing--I can see the green library binding of the book, and the shelving area where it came from, but I can't remember the author.
