Hello,
I quite understand your aversion to authors shamelessly plugging, so while I do intend to contribute to your wide-ranging disccussions, I'm also very grateful for a quick mention. My first novel is out in the US on December 27, 2011 and is called The Anatomist's Apprentice. (Dr Thomas Silkstone Mystery, Book 1). It's about a young American anatomist who comes to 18th century London and becomes embroiled in a murder mystery. Using pioneering forensic techniques, he is determined to find the person responsible for the death of a young aristrocrat, but in so doing endangers his own life and that of the woman he loves.
