I'd like to read more Twain. I don't know if I ever read that one in my younger days or not. I do know I've read Connecticut Yankee (I am sure I've misspelled that).
At home with a good book and the cat...
...is the only place I want to be

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this is the first Twain I've ever read. :o I have a set of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn that were given to me as a kid, but they just never clicked with me; now having read Tom Sawyer I can understand why it didn't appeal to the younger me. I think for younger readers, it would probably be more interesting to boys than girls.

It was an enjoyable story, a nice, lighthearted classic whose most significant value -- IMO, at least -- is the snapshot it gives of a long-lost way of life in a particular place and time. Written way before political correctness, of course, so it's depiction of blacks and Native Americans is a little painful to the modern reader (but I know you read a lot of older books, so you're used to that).

But Tom and Huck did capture my fancy enough that I would like to read their continuing adventures, and so will probably read Huckleberry Finn one of these days.

P.S. No, you didn't misspell Connecticut Yankee. ;)
