What did you think of New York by Edward Rutherfurd? His earlier books were favorites, but this one was a huge disappointment. I haven't read his last few books so I don't know if his quality has declined, or if the problem was that I listened to an audio version that was abridged (so all the good parts were cut out?). I just found it incredibly bland and not up to his normal standard at all. A bummer, because I would love to read a good history of NYC.

P.S. I'm amazed at how many books you read. Do you ever sleep? :p

Didn't think much of it, honestly. I'd give it three stars, maybe? I find the format tedious, generally, and he's not a good enough writer to overcome that. I read it mostly because I live in NYC and so was curious. A disappointment, though...

I read rapidly and eclectically; I do sleep, but often would rather read! :)
