I haven't tackled this myself (my enthusiasm for blockblockers is diminishing along with my eyesight) but Sarah Johnson (Ariadne) reviewed it for the Globe and Mail, and her reviews are always thoughtful and considered. It's no secret that I was not a fan of Pillars of the Earth. So I was not sure about the recommendation in a book group for his new book Fall of Giants, about WWI. The time period is certainly of interest to me, so I want to read it. But I wanted to see if others here read it and what their impressions were. Is it as graphic and poorly written as Pillars? How historically accurate?

Blood Games by the oddly named Yarbro Chelsea Quinn. As a vampire book, this is so not my type of novel, but it's set at the time of Nero, and it came highly recommended by someone whose opinion I value. About 1/3 of the way in, and enjoying it.
