I'm reading an electronic review copy of Philippa Gregory's The Lady of the Rivers.

Ditto, but I'm almost done. Then it's on to Tides of War by Stella Tillyard (I think that's the author's name).

Yes, it is Stella Tillyard. I read it in July. I enjoyed it - I preferred the parts set in London and Suffolk to the war bits! I thought it was beautifully written, though, but perhaps a little dry.

I'm reading Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch, a contemporary thriller with magicians and vampires.

Interest in HF: started in childhood with the classics, which, IMHO are HF even if they were contemporary when written.
Favourite HF book: Prince of Foxes, by Samuel Shellabarger
Preferred HF: Currently prefer 1600 and earlier, but I'll read anything that keeps me turning the page.

The Demon-Hated World by Carl Sagan (very good book)
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!
- "Into Battle"

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin...and it will be a slow going for a while because school starts on Tuesday. The beginning of school is just as bad for the teachers as it is for the students.

Sampling "Voss" by Patrick White... Haven't decided whether it will stick or not. Have too many things going on this weekend to get much reading done.

Robert Harris' books set in ancient Rome are great. Looking forward to what you have to say about this one.

Finally got finished with God is an Englishman -- very good, and while a touch longwinded in spots, the characters are very memorable. Now reading The Complete History of Jack the Ripper by Philip Sugden.

Wait till Vesuvius erupts. She's the real star of the book.
