Rereading People of the Book for a discussion group this week. Still really liking it, but this time realizing how appropo this book will be at this time.
Just started this last night. So far, I'm very much enjoying it. I love books about old books.

Really? I thought it was alright. But I've definitely liked some of her other novels better.
Snuck in a guilty pleasure The Sea of Monsters - YA fantasy about Greek demi-gods - between The Spartacus Wars and Gilgamesh. It's fun and very Harry Potterish--which is a good thing!
I really like that series, and I have my students reading it. Have you tried The Red Pyramid yet? It's about the Egyptian gods. It's not as Harry Potterish as the Percy Jackson series.

Just finished 'Dragonwyck' by Anya Seton which I ended up liking very much - found it a little slow to begin with and a little predictable, but it was delightfully gothic :) a keeper for me. Just begun 'The Building of Jalna' by Mazo de la Roche, the first title in the series about a Canadian Whiteoak family spanning from 1854 to 1954.

:) Funnily enough, I watched Dragonwyck on the TV this afternoon whilst I was doing my ironing! I love those old black and white films. It had Vincent Price in it who has such a distinctive voice. Quite creepy really.

I'm just about to start Garlands of Gold by Rosalind Laker.

The series is fun so far. I've seen The Red Pyramid, but haven't indulged yet. I'll check it out. Thanks!

I have that one too.

I think I will be putting down to mature for a while. I need a bit more distance from The Captive Queen!
