Today I'm finishing up THE RED QUEEN. I really, really disliked THE OTHER QUEEN...but thought THE WHITE QUEEN was one of PG's best (I haven't read them all but I've read all the Tudor court novels other than THE QUEEN'S FOOL). I know a lot of you cringed at the Melusina aspect, but I didn't mind it, especially since I've not read anything before where Melusina was included as a central element (she was mentioned briefly in CQ by Weir). I say in my review that it is a nice light beach read if you don't care much to get into the heavy history of the WOTR. Obviously others like Penman's SUNNE IN SPLENDOUR would be much more suitable for this.

I'm also reading DRACULA IN LOVE by Karen Essex for review later this coming week. Will be interesting to see how this one compares to DRACULA, MY LOVE by Syrie James, which I reviewed a couple weeks ago. I liked the light, breezy writing, but Mina's naivety was a bit frustrating. So far she's much more headstrong and willful in the Essex book, which I'm finding more to my liking.

Next up after these two for me are THE JEWEL OF ST. PETERSBURG by Kate Furnivall and JULIET by Anne Fortier.

I've finished "Lucy's Bones, Sacred Stones, and Einstein's Brain: The Remarkable Stories Behind the Great Objects & Artifacts of History, from Antiquity to the Modern Era" by Harvey Rachlin (353pgs, 1996)*. Interesting book, will read the follow-up eventually.

I DNF The White Queen. My favourite Gregory so far is A Respectable Trade.

I have Juliet by Anne Fortier to read for Amazon Vine - when I get around to it!
