In return for all my castoffs, my bookseller friend gives me any finds that she thinks I might use. I am now reading A Small Sound of the Trumpet: Women in Medieval Life by Magaret Wade Lebarge and Giovanni and Lusanna: Love and Marriage in Renaissance Florence by Gene Brucker.
Fascinating stuff, but not exactly light entertainment. By the time Wolf Hall arrives, it will seem positively fluffy by comparison!

[quote=""CindyInOz""]I'm about 80 pages into Dorothy Dunnett's Niccolo Rising - gosh it's a complex read, and not one I'll be able to read late at night, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Yes, it is a complex read, very involving and one to concentrate on. I loved it, though.
I'm still reading The Girl on the Landing by Paul Torday. EC, you asked me to let you know what's like - I don't think it is a ghost story now - it's reminding me more of the film 'My Beautiful Mind' with Russell Crowe. I'm enjoying it, however.

The Secret Garden was a favourite book of mine as a child - probably because it's set in Yorkshire which is where I come from! Your copy sounds gorgeous, Erwin, and I hope you enjoy the story. I hope your grand-niece (in-law) enjoys it, too. I'm sure you both will.
