Right, so I finished this a couple of days ago and we had our book group meeting on it last night. Not sure when I'll have time to do a proper review but, in short, it wasn't much good! And all of us in the group agreed. It could have been a right old swashbuckler, but it wasn't. It could have been a torrid romance, but it wasn't. It could have been a serious work of historical fiction, but it wasn't. It could have had characters you cared about, but it didn't. Not a complete disaster but a missed opportunity.
Thanks for letting me know Sweetpotatoboy, I think I'll put it at the bottom of my pile now ! :D
As you say, a missed opportunity. Pity !

I've been horribly sick with a cold this week but finally emerged out to the light of day to get The Heretic Queen by M Moran and Come The Morning by Shannon Drake about the Viking invasion or somewhere along thse lines.

I finally finished The Fiery Cross! Those books are big and beautiful!

I have just started North and South by Elizabeth Gaskill.

I've just started A Place Beyond Courage and finding it really enjoyable. It will be interesting to see how John's relationship with Aline develops and how he will feel about divorcing her.

I'm out of my HF zone right now and am about the start Stephenie Meyer's The Host.

I hope I get back in the zone right after that! I've got EC's, CW's and Michelle Moran's latest all stacked together and will likely read them back to back. I think having bronchitis still after two weeks affects my concentration and I tend to go for less 'thought provoking' material. I just finished an urban fantasy, Wicked Game, by Jeri Smith-Ready. More vampires!

Leyland, I hope you're soon fighting fit again!
The Host is on my mental TBR and I think I'm going to order it tomorrow when I do some Christmas book shopping.

Thanks EC! It's a draining illness to be sure and I'm about to sign off to begin reading. I expect to finish The Host either by midnight or tomorrow morning. I'm dragging out my goose down comforter for the session. :)
