Lords of the Far Island and The Queens Confession by Vistoria Holt, I bought them off craiglist here locally and the first is in great shape the other I might have to pitch, it's stinks to high heaven and is torn in the spine. I really wished I could keep it but hey there is amazon, right?

I cashed in my $25 B&N giftcard last evening for Sepulchre by Kate Mosse and The House on Tradd Street by Karen White. Tsjmom mentioned that she really enjoyed Tradd Street in her reading log.

I had 45 minutes to kill before going to a Tab Benoit (blues guitarist) show afterwards so I started Mosse's novel. I'm 38 pages in and quite intrigued so far.

Vikings

:)
I ordered Tom Holt's Meadowland: A Novel of the Viking Discovery of America today.

In 1037, a senior civil servant of the Byzantine empire faces a tedious journey to Greece, escorting the Army payroll. His only companions are a detachment of the Empire's elite Guard, recruited from Viking Scandinavia. When the wagon sheds a wheel, he passes the time talking with two veterans, who have a remarkable story to tell—the Viking discovery of America.

It sounds like a comically written anecdotal story ...
Thanks for the recommendation....on my TBR list.....If he is like Tony Horwitz and sees humor in History.... it will be a keeper....TH is my favorite NF writer....his books read like HF.......

I used part of a B&N gift card I got for Christmas and bought two more of Mary Stewart's novels: The Ivy Tree and Thornyhold.

I just realized that I never ordered EC's new edition of The Wild Hunt. So I got that as well as Shields of Pride, another one I was missing, from The Book Depository. I meant to do it a while ago but must've gotten distracted and never finished the checkout. Duh! But I think the exchange rate might be better now though so that's good!!

I don't recall Holt's Meadowland being particularly humorous. Definitely not humorous in the way that the other HF of his I've read, The Walled Orchard, was. But it was a pleasant read.
