I've just started "Evergreen Gallant" by Jean Plaidy. I"m on a nostalgia trip - I first read it when I was about 14. It was the first Plaidy I ever read.

I've finished "Pompeii: The Living City" by Alex Butterworth and Ray Laurence.

This is an excellent, detail rich book. It starts 25 years before the eruption of Vesivius and we learn all about the life that the citizens would've lived. It also has fictional vignettes about various people and things they may have done (but of course we can't know for sure). You also learn about the emperors at the time, especially Nero who actually visited Pompeii not long before the Fire in Rome.

I highly recommend this book!
