Archaeology team tells Queen, "We want to dig up Henry VIII"

Post by Rowan » Mon February 28th, 2011, 5:26 pm

Yet another theory...?
Two American archaeologists have asked the Queen of England for permission to dig up Henry VIII and use the latest techniques to reconstruct his face. Bioarchaeologist Catrina Whitley and anthropologist Kyra Kramer popped the question because they're interested in seeing how accurate the royal portraits of the famous king really are. They also want to perform DNA tests to see if he suffered from a rare illness that might have driven him insane.

Hmm, I wonder how well that's going to go over with the Queen.

I'd rather know if Elizabeth I was close to her portraits.

I suspect they're on a hiding to nothing. Why don't they go dig up their own ancestors and see what they looked like!

I read a theory that syphillis was involved in the madness of king Hank.

I'd be interested in whether the portraits were accurate but I wouldn't bet they get permission.

That was hilarious! People at my office looked me funny because I busted out laughing, but I couldn't help myself! Thanks for the laugh!

Hmmm . . . good luck with that request. I imagine HRH will not be too amused.

I'm all for letting the dead rest(being a lover of cemeteries n such) however I dont see why this is necessarily a bad thing. Although, I would be more interested to see if he had an STD.

More theories on Henry's medical conditions - he may have been Kell positive, which is a condition which affects fertility, and can be passed onto partners, which might explain his low, er strike rate, when it came to fathering children, and also the problems that his wives had with frequent miscarriages.

Just the stress of being married to him could have caused the miscarriages. Though a medical issue makes sense as well. I find it odd that he was much more prolific at producing children with mistresses than with his wives, then again that could go back to the stress issue.
