Devon

Just back from a holiday in Exmouth, in East Devon, which was lovely - went there last year as well. Historically speaking, I managed to visit Exeter Cathedral this time round, which was, as are most cathedrals, stunning - it has the longest vaulted nave in the world and is very impressive. Also paid a return visit to Lyme Regis, and finally managed to walk along the Cobb (it was too windy last year), and got some lovely views of the town. Now back in grimy London, ugh.

I've never been to Devon but I'd really like to go, it sounds relaxed and beautiful and full of great history.

A friend of mine just bit the bullet and moved from London to Devon - she was just fed up with the pollution and quality of life in general - and she's so much happier now :)

Lucky lady - she's made the right decision.

Is it the Cobb in Lyme Regis that features in Jane Austen's Persuasion?

Yes, and also in the "The French Lieutenant's Woman" with a cloaked Meryl Streep gazing out to sea :D
