The American Heiress

Post by Divia » Wed May 4th, 2011, 10:15 pm

This was on Amazon's vine last week and I was wondering if anyone else picked it up. its my understanding that this is a YA book but for the life of me I can't see how it is.

Just wondering if anyone else was reading it and what their opinion were.

A lot of description and not a lot of dialogue, though more dialogue than the Sienna book.

This book has the title My Last Duchess in the UK. I read it last year and really enjoyed it. It's light reading - I found it entertaining. It's not a YA novel.

Yeah it was published in the UK first.

It's kinda dull and I don't understand how she can love the guy in America meet this older duke and be like dude lets marry I love you. I mean that was quick turn around.

Wasn't it something to do with her bossy mother and the idea of a title? The memorable part was the light bulb dress the mother was wearing!!

well yeah, and thats what I dont get. Mom wants her to have a title but she loves boy A in the states. So mom ships her off to England anyway and instead of putting up a fit she just shrugs her shoulders and is like OK, I'll marry you. I do love you, honestly I do.

I'm like.... She wanted to run off with boy A in the states but he is so easily forgotten.

Little hard to swallow.

yeah the bulb thing was interesting.

Didn't they have to do as they were told in those days? Didn't money come into it somewhere? I can't remember. Wouldn't she have lost her inheritance if she didn't do what her mother wanted?
