How about:

You may notice a heavy use of the colon in the MS: others have commented on this but take note: this is part of the overall artistic effect and hence must be retained.

I posted this on Writerinthenorth's blog, but couldn't resist copying it here :) :

We all know that the standard synopsis and 3 chapters goes straight into the bin, which is why I have submitted my entire historical novel as an illuminated manuscript on imitation parchment paper. Got your attention, didn't it?
