Scam literary agent finally brought to court

Some of these sums are astonishing! The mind boggles, both about the scammer and the scammed.

Oh my gosh. Look how much money he took/stole from these people. But Cecil Humphery-Smith... come on! When you have nothing to show for your $500,000 (?), don't you become a little suspicious? Sad. I guess, since this industry is so subjective and response times can be anywhere from 1 minute to 1 year, maybe you don't realize you're being scammed until it's too late. Imagine being out all that money? :[

How completely horrible! As if trying to get published isn't tough enough even when you deal with completely reputable, honest people.

Horrendous. All the more reason to always research a potential agent to make sure of their legitimacy; not being approved by AAR, etc. are red flags to heed.

Well thank goodness he's being prosecuted.

Will the suckers, I mean people he ripped off, get their money back?
I doubt it very much. He'll probably get out in a couple of years too.
