Sisters In Crime Blog Hop

I need help!
I was recently tagged to do a Sisters In Crime blog hop, and though I tagged someone else on this forum, she wasn't able to help.
I'm not a crime writer, but neither is the person who tagged me. I'm not a member of Sisters In Crime, but you don't have to be. You do have to be female, be published, and have a blog, though. It's all about networking, which as you can see is something I sorely lack. You'd be helping me out.
You just post these questions (and answers) to your blog (if you have one) and tag a female author in turn. Ask their permission first. I'm not publishing my answers till I find a willing victim.
Which authors have inspired you?
Which male authors write great women characters? Which female authors write great male characters?
If someone said "Nothing against women writers, but all of my favorite [crime] fiction authors happen to be men," how would you respond?
What's the best part of the writing process for you? What's the most challenging?
Do you listen to music while writing? What's on your playlist?
What books are on your nightstand right now?
If you were to mentor a new writer, what would you tell her about the writing business?
Thanks,
Laura
