Happy Birthday Ariadne!
Thanks so much, Faith!
So far I've picked out four to get:
- Alice Hoffman's The Dovekeepers (which Sharon reviewed so positively on her blog, and which got a review in the NYT this weekend that seemed undeservedly cranky. I can't believe the book is that horrible, and the reviewer didn't provide enough evidence for her opinion, in my view)
- Stephanie Dray's Song of the Nile, since I'm eager to read part 2
- Susanna Kearsley's The Rose Garden, since I love her timeslip novels!
- Kimberley Freeman's Wildflower Hill, because it's a lengthy saga (my favorite).

Happy Birthday two days late . I usually take the weekends off from the internet since I'm on here ALL the time during the week. Sounds like a great haul. Let me know what you think of Wildflower Hill. I read it a few weeks ago and wasn't completely absorbed as I had hoped to be. The author left a few loose ends that left me going "but what about this..." I felt the same way about "My Name is Mary Sutter" but most people disagreed with me. So, let me know!! Oh and while I'm being so demanding on your birthday, I'd like your thoughts on Dovekeepers. I think it may be too much for me.

Thanks, and will do. Dovekeepers did seem like it'd be very intense and heavy-going, especially towards the end... but I think I want to read it anyway.

I've seen quite a lot of positive comment around about The Dovekeepers. I noticed that Margaret reviewed it recently on her Historical Novels Info website.
Belated but I hope you had a very happy birthday!!
