My husband's is on 26 December (Boxing Day in the UK), so we always have a small party for family and friends and have a birthday cake with candles to blow out just to try to define it from Christmas! I always buy him separate presents, too - he says he used to hate getting doubling-up gifts as a child. He felt sort of conned! LOL.
