do covers matter for an ebook?

One of the things that almost sold me on the Nook vs. Kindle was the fact that the Nook's covers were in color. However, I got over that because I love amazon.com so the choice was easy. However, I'm big on cover art. If the cover doesn't catch my eye, I usually won't bother to read the description...
