The one thing I hate about my website...

A place to debate issues or to rant about what's on your mind. In addition to discussions about historical fiction, books, the publishing industry, and history, discussions about current political, social, and religious issues and other topics are allowed, so those who are easily offended by certain topics may want to avoid such threads. Members are expected to keep the discussions friendly and polite and to avoid personal attacks on other members. The moderators reserve the right to shut down a thread without warning if they believe it necessary.

Can't you tell them before you add them to the website that you are going to list them as self-published? If you then get hissy emails about the fact, you can then decline to list them, thus saving yourself the bother of including them. Then you can just ignore their emails.

I figured out how to deal with this, and it seems to be working. There's a new contact form that authors are required to fill out. For self-published novels, authors have to check the box that says they agree to have it listed with a "self-published" notation. I do get a few authors trying to sneak past by claiming they're published by an established press, but since I ask for the publisher's web address, it's quick and easy to doublecheck that, and I just contact the author and tell them they have to check the correct box before I will list their novel. Some will argue, but I just won't list anything until they check the box. Saves loads of time and aggravation!

Laura, I just moved on Friday, and my computer was not hooked up for awhile, so I am playing catch up. If you filled out the contact form on the website, I will get your novel listed soon! I'm afraid I only review print books - I don't have an e-reader, and reading anything book length online is too hard on my eyes.
Browse over 5000 historical novel listings (probably well over 5000 by now, but I haven't re-counted lately) and over 700 reviews at www.HistoricalNovels.info
