I'm looking for novels about women in the ancient world, pre first century B.C. Any country will do, but I'm especially interested in Egypt, Parthia,/Persia and Mesopotamia

1) The Founders of Rome series by Colleen McCullough, although not about women, has many strong women characters/

2) Marilyn Todd's Claudia series set in Rome and her Priestess Iliona series set in Greece are a little later, I think. They're historical mysteries.

3) Margaret George's Helen of Troy

4) Michelle Moran's Egyptian books are very good

5) Pauline Gedge's Child of the Morning (about Hatshepsut). I think she has others set in the ancient world, but I confess to not being positive.

6) Esther Freisner's "Princess" books are YA, not sure if that interests you.

I enjoyed Rebecca Lochlann's The Year-god's Daughter, which is set in ancient Crete. It's the first in a series spanning history but can be read as a standalone.
It is only available as a Kindle edition I think.

Sam Barone's Eskkar series set in ancient Mesopotamia features several strong women, particularly Trella, who is Eskkar's wife and just as important to the stories as he is.

Then there's Zenobia: the Rebel Queen by Judith Weingarten, about the queen of Palmryra who defied the Romans.

I liked Song of Troy by Colleen McCullough. Each chapter is told by a different narrator (some people have more than one chapter). Not all the narrators are women, but Helen of Troy and Briseis both feature.
