I'm on Facebook and would certainly join if there was a Facebook group for the site - though that would probably be the extent of my activity with the group. I'd rather spend my time on this site. But it might be worthwhile to have a Facebook group if it draws HF fans to this site who discover it at Facebook.

Like a few other people here I'm not sure what Facebook stands for and what the advantages are to be a member of it either.

I figure myspace (which my publisher designed for me) is enough given the amount of time I spend writing, researching, and contributing to sites such as this.

I have yet to enter blogland as well.

Someone please explain what Facebook is, how it works, what having one here entails, and how it would be different from what we have now? Is this the thing where you sign up as friends and suddenly get 5000 request from 'friends'?

Maybe those of us with Facebook accounts could "friend" each other for the time being? Feel free to send an invite my way: you'll find me if you search "Holly Tucker Vanderbilt"

I resisted and resisted it...until this fall. It's an incredible way to stay in touch with my former students, who are doing some pretty amazing things!

I've noticed a few of us are actively enjoying Facebook now - should we consider creating a group again? Or is there one and I can't find it?

It would probably be most useful for keeping up with the headline stuff; I'm on FB more frequently, but probably would focus discussion on this board.

It might be particularly useful for noting upcoming releases; our bloggers could link to their blogs, people could post travel tips, etc.
We could have a "what happened on this date in history" feature tied to it.

Some stuff probably wouldn't be appropriate, like reviews or some of the chat features, but as a way to kind of keep tabs on what's happening in HFO when you're too busy to post, it's a great alternative. I usually check in with FB once a day.

I prefer not to spread myself around the 'net, especially under my real name, so keep FB for a selected few friends and family only.

OK, folks! For those who are interested, here it is:

I sent some invitations to some Facebook friends who I knew were also members here, but you don't have to wait for an invitation to join! Just mosey on over.
