Bigger Avatars?

Post by Divia » Wed July 8th, 2009, 11:20 pm

Its must me I'm sure of it, but I was wondering if by chance we could get bigger avatars. Maybe 125 or 150. I'm visual and I like the pics. Just throwin it out there. :)

I am not sure whether we can do bigger avs or not. We do need to make sure that we don't make the site too slow to load, particularly for those who are on dial up.

DL has a good point. There are several blogs I only read through Google reader and don't go to the sites to post comments as they have way too much graphics and widgets and stuff.

Personally, I find avatars distracting. The size of them right now are acceptable for me. Bigger ones would be over the top in my humble estimation

I agree--since people come here to read the postings, big avatars might hamper download times for some and defeat that very purpose.

I feel sorry for whoever is on dial-up considering that the web is moving away from that anyway, and has been for a few years.

I figured what the answer would be no, but I thought I would ask anyway.

I agree that the size of the Avatars is fine as they are. What might be more interesting though, is that from time to time we all change our avatars. What do you think? Mine is currently 'le pont de Millau,' a most fantastic bridge that is a must to see when you visit the south of France - each pillar is higher than the Eiffel tower!

Maybe it's time to change?????????

I dont want to change my avatar. I just like bigger ones to see more detail. Thats all.

What I really dislike are image sigs, but thankfully we get the option to opt out of that. Talk about slowing down a page.
