I'm a bit late coming into this thread, but I have two Pen & Sword books written by Philip Sidnell and both are well written, researched and edited.

I just read a review of one of Pen and Sword's books and the reviewer took the time to list a large number of errors in the book. These were more than just typos and some of them made me wonder if the editor even bothered to read the manuscript.
Has P & S become more of vanity press these days? That would explain the wide gap in quality.
