Which movie versions are you thinking of Nefret?
The Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. I found the DVD for it.

Now reading... Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens.
Into battle we ride with Gods by our side
We are strong and not afraid to die
We have an urge to kill and our lust for blood has to be fulfilled
WE´LL FIGHT TILL THE END! And send our enemies straight to Hell!

That is a good one. The best for the overall adaptation and production.

I shall have to purchase and watch the DVD. For... research. :)

Perhaps read the book again later as well.

You really can't research Mr Darcy (Colin Firth) in a wet shirt too much  :D .

I am on a classics kick myself (my mom just gave me her old kindle, since she got an I-pad, so i'm downloading the hell out of free kindle classics) and I have realized two things...

1. I was not mature enough for "the classics" when I was in high school and college. Much of the stuff I HATED then I love now. For example... I took a Dickens class in college, and mostly hated it. I even took a picture dancing on his grave at westminster abbey (I know, i'm terrible.) But now, I'm liking it much more.

2. High school English teachers for whatever reason pick the most boring, god awful examples of the "classics" to assign. Then they pick them to death with analysis. I think if I were to teach high school English, I would pick "boy friendly" books, like Don Quixote, the Prince, Dostoyevsky, Dumas, etc., and "girl friendly" books, like Austen, Bronte, etc. I got sooo sick of stilited romance novels as a 16 year old boy. I remember in particular we had to read Ethan Frome... god I hated that book! Although I hated Hemmingway too, and he is considered a "guy" author...

Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever shall be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same results.
