Here's a recent Vanity Fair interview with George R. R. Martin in which he discussed (among other things) that the series is progressing quickly. One thing he mentions is that the actress who plays Arya is now a "young woman" (she's 16) and Arya is still 11.

Yes, that's what I thought but I'm sure they do add things from other books.

There's a new female character in book 4 who's in the series, so I think they'll do a bit of book 4 - there's still enough left over from book 3 though to make a series on it's own.

Finished it last night and apart from a couple of very talky chapters, I enjoyed it - leaves one or two cliffhangers as well.
